The Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York has always been known for basketball. From the great Billy Cunningham, at Erasmus Hall High School on the avenue. To the likes of, Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown. For generations, the inner-city youth of Brooklyn, bounced a basketball with hopes and dreams of playing college basketball. Heaven Figueroa, is carrying on that tradition for the women’s game playing at a high level prepping at The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. However, she is a Flatbush, Brooklyn kid at heart and is proud of her Puerto Rican heritage. People from Brooklyn have great big hearts, and are not afraid of anything. Figueroa embodies that mentality on the court, to go along with her innate basketball skills and immense passion for the game. ” I work very hard  on my game to sharpen my skill-set and to be a leader from the guard position. Growing up in Brooklyn can be challenging, but it is a great experience that only makes you stronger. ”

Travel Club

Figueroa is gearing up for her last travel club season playing for iexcel, and she is ready to leave everything on the basketball court this spring and summer. “Leading into the this spring and summer, I will prepare myself to be in great shape to compete at the highest level. I also want to have fun, and to prepare for any challenges presented to my teammates and I, in my last AAU season. I like the challenge in playing for iExcel, there is so much competition and many talented players within all age groups of the organization. I love the opportunities it brings from working out, meeting new people. And most of all, in the spring and summer when college coaches come to see us play.”
