To Dara Mabrey the game of basketball is like second nature, the Manasquan High School junior guard is the younger sister of  two Notre Dame University Women’s basketball players. Michaela a recent graduate and Marina who is now a sophomore guard in South Bend. However, this distinction has not put any pressure on Dara because she understands  who she is and her family supports her in doing so. “Playing basketball makes me feel great, its a family affair with my two older sisters and brothers. I like to shoot three pointers and play defense, I love that my siblings and I all play basketball. We challenge each other all the time and we share the desire to win no matter what.”

Dara is always ready to compete and play at a high level with her Exodus NYC club team that is a part of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. “Summer basketball is so rewarding, our coach Tom Catapano is someone that believes in us as a team and tells us he would go to war with. My brother Roy and sister Michaela were both assistant coaches this year which was fun.Our team is loaded with highly competitive players and dedicated to winning, we also have a lot of fun.” Despite receiving a lot of collegiate recruiting attention Dara is intelligent enough to know that she has to work very hard on all aspects of her game because there is always room for improvement. “I have always looked up to Epiphanny Prince for what she has accomplished as a player and how hard she competes.” At this point in her scholastic career Dara is looking forward to winning a New Jersey State Championship this season while taking her game to the next level to continue the Mabrey legacy at Manasquan High School.
