Coming off of a 19-6 season and a trip to the New York State Federation Championship the Long Island Lutheran girls basketball program is set to make another championship run for the 2016-17 season. 10th year coach Rich Slater has done a great job with the program bringing in talented prospects and playing a tough schedule against top tier competition.

Any basketball program is built upon the success of the players and the team, and LUHI has achieved both with a strong history of student-athletes going on to the collegiate level at schools such as: Harvard; Michigan; University of Pennsylvania; Colgate; Seton Hall; Sacred Heart; Vermont and Trinity College in Hartford, CT just to name a few. This seasons team will add two transfers, Amani Free a junior wing-forward prospect from Syracuse and Jaida Patrick a 5’10 sophomore guard from the Rockland County, NY area. Patrick adds to a stellar returning sophomore class including standout guard Cassidy Roberts, dynamic wing Celeste Taylor and emerging guard Diamonae McLean. Under the tutelage of coach Rich Slater look for LUHI to be one of the top teams in the state and across the country.
